Bunnings is planning to close seven stores, leaving 145 staff affected

The national retailer is proposing to shut down stores in Ashburton, Hornby, Hastings, Cambridge, Rangiora, Te Awamutu and Putaruru.
Bunnings NZ director Jacqui Coombes says the Covid-19 environment has resulted in trading challenges, meaning the stores are no longer viable.
Consultation with staff will begin today - to discuss individual circumstances, including redeployment to other stores if possible
