Record house prices across the country

The nationwide median house price rose by 17.2 per cent between April last year and April this year -- from 580 thousand to 680 thousand.

In Auckland, the median increased by 9.2 per cent, despite a nearly 70 percent drop in the number of houses sold.

Real Estate Institute Chief Executive, Bindi Norwell. says a lot of that is due to how the market was acting before the pandemic.

She says in March a lot of high end properties come onto the market due to increased confidence.
