All Blacks captain Sam Cane reportedly wants a trans-Tasman Super Rugby competition moving forward
24 May 2020
Channel Nine is reporting Cane and fellow All Black Aaron Smith joined Wallabies captain Michael Hooper and a number of Aussie players on a call to discuss the future of the competition.
It's thought the group agreed the current format is no longer viable, instead preferring a ten-team trans-Tasman competition.
The Western Force would be added to the nine current franchises to make up the numbers.
The main obstacle is both South African and New Zealand rugby unions have broadcast deals for Super Rugby beyond 2020.
