Be cautious if you're heading out on the water this long-weekend

Be cautious if you're heading out on the water this long-weekend

MetService predict heavy rain and gale force winds for much of the North Island tomorrow and Monday.

Water Safety New Zealand are reminding boaties to follow the golden safety rules.

Chief Executive Jonty Mills says life jackets are essential.

He says up to two thirds of people who've lost their lives in recreational boating accidents would've survived if they'd worn a life jacket.
