Grocery wholesalers had the largest increase in the March quarter ... in more than two decades.
Stats NZ says the value of grocery, liquor, and tobacco wholesaling rose by 354 million dollars - or four point one percent - during the period.
The second largest wholesale rise in the quarter was in 'other goods' - like pharmaceuticals, stationery and furniture - which rose two point one percent.
The boost was also driven by bumper kiwifruit sales... with the value of fruit exports rising 54 percent in March alone.
