A 20-year-old-man who ran into the path of a Police car in Taranaki is in a serious but stable condition

The incident occurred on Glover (GLUVV-ah) Road in Hawera about 12:20 this morning.
After initial medical treatment by the two officers in the car and ambulance staff at the scene, the man was flown to Taranaki Base Hospital in New Plymouth and then on to Wellington Hospital.
Acting District Commander Inspector Ross McKay says the patrol car was responding to a nearby callout but was not undertaking urgent duty driving.
The officers involved are uninjured however, the patrol car has moderate damage.
Police are continuing to speak to a number of witnesses
