Tourism Industry Aotearoa wants to see Auckland Council's accommodation provider targeted rate binned once and for all
21 June 2020
The council is proposing to suspend the rate in its Covid-19 emergency budget from April 1 this year to the end of March next year.
Chief executive Chris Roberts says going further than that would inspire some confidence that there is going to be a tourism future for Auckland - and accommodation providers will be key to it.
He says signalling to accommodation providers that not only the rate will be suspended but removed entirely is something the council can do to really support tourism in Auckland.
