Experts say there's growing evidence the virus could cause persistent or permanent trauma, including impairment to the brain and an increased risk of Alzheimer's disease.
National Health Service guidance seen by Britain's Daily Telegraph suggests around 30 per cent of patients who recover from Covid-19 may be left with damaged and scarred lung tissue.
