Christopher Kane Te Kawa Simeon was sentenced today for murdering Christmas Island deportee, Faletoi Matue, in May last year.
The 27-year-old pleaded guilty earlier this year - and has now been sent to jail with a minimum non-parole period of almost 11 years..
The pair had been drinking at a central Auckland apartment, before visiting a woman in Torbay on the North Shore.
A fight broke out in the car - and later, Simeon stabbed Matue with two kitchen knives.
