A conundrum ahead for the Reserve Bank
A conundrum ahead for the Reserve Bank
24 June 2020
While the bank's today expected to leave the Official Cash Rate unchanged ... a wider issue at hand is our strengthening Kiwi dollar.
The bounce back in the New Zealand currency is said to provide little relief for local exporters in the post-Covid recovery.
JMI Wealth Director Andrew Kelleher says the Reserve Bank may address the issue this morning.
He says it could be something they comment on, but a muted market response is expected.
After our dollar slumped to 57 US cents on March 20, it's since rebounded to now sit at almost 65-cents today.
