Unions are backing the Green Party's new welfare policy

Its poverty action plan hopes to break the poverty cycle by guaranteeing people without full time work, a weekly income of at least $325.
Council of Trade Unions secretary Melissa Ansell-Bridges says Covid-19 has taught people how quickly they can transition in and out of work.
She says there needs to be strong structures in place to ensure no one is living in poverty in New Zealand.
