Government Infrastructure funding will help put victims at ease in the Wellington District Court

Government Infrastructure funding will help put victims at ease in the Wellington District Court

Wellington is getting 185-million dollars from the Covid Response and Recovery Infrastructure Fund, with 14 million toward upgrading our District Court.

Refurbishments will include modernising security systems and creating more spaces for victims with work beginning in the New Year.

Wellington Crown Solicitor Grant Burston says this will make waiting to give evidence less stressful.

He says when victims are giving evidence it's not a good idea to be waiting in an area where supporters of the defendant can come into contact with them.
