Claims managed isolation could be a dangerous place for people with alcohol addictions

52-year-old Queenstown man Martin McVicar escaped from managed isolation at Hamilton's Distinction Hotel on Thursday night.
He went to a nearby liquor store, and picked up a four pack of beer and a red wine.
Alcohol and drug counsellor Roger Brooking says sudden withdraw from alcohol can be dangerous.
He says alcoholics could have a seizure and die... if they go cold turkey.
McVicar has been denied bail, and faces charges of intentional damage of a 52 inch TV and failing to comply with an order under the Covid-19 Public Health Response Act.
