The Green Party's policy to end coal use in this country by 2030 is being seen as do-able

The Green Party's policy to end coal use in this country by 2030 is being seen as do-able

The party's also promising to ban new industrial coal boilers in the first 100 days in Government.

Greenpeace spokeswoman Amanda Larsson says the closure of the Tiwai Point aluminium smelter means there'll be more hydro-energy available on the market.

She says with an injection of solar, wind and other renewables it's possible to phase out the use of outdated fuels like coal and gas.
