The attack was carried out by 28-year-old far right extremist, Stephan Balliet, who broadcast it live on a gaming site.
The man had tried to force his way into a Jewish synagogue in Halle , where more than 50 worshippers were inside.
Balliet is charged with 13 crimes including murder, attempted murder and bodily harm.
The attack is considered one of the worst anti-Semitic assaults in the country's post-war history.
