The helicopter pilot - who was at one stage one of New Zealand's most wanted former fugitives - pleaded guilty in Christchurch District Court - to thefts and frauds worth 580-thousand dollars.
Bennett first ripped off a Kiwi dairy farmer in Sydney in 2003, then sneaked into New Zealand on a yacht to carry out more scams.
He was finally arrested sailing into Sydney Harbour from Northland in 2015, and was extradited.
Bennett's lawyer told the court the 57-year-old has been in custody for a long time and it's likely he'll be on a benefit when he's released from prison
