The Government is allocating extra money, to address the court backlog caused by the Covid 19 lockdown

Justice Minister Andrew Little says 50-million dollars from the Covid Response and Recovery Fund will go towards helping the courts catch up.
It will provide for five District Court judges, four acting High Court judges, and an acting Associate judge.
It will also provide extra staff and funding for courts, police prosecutions, corrections, Oranga Tamariki and Crown Law.
