Road safety advocates have little doubt a move to lower Dunedin's speed limits will save lives

Road safety advocates have little doubt a move to lower Dunedin's speed limits will save lives

Dunedin City Council's calling for public feedback on proposed speed limit changes - which would see the limit drop from 80 to 60 on rural roads - to 40 in Otago Peninsula towns - and the CBD's 30 kilometre zone extended.

BRAKE director Caroline Perry says speed is a huge problem in New Zealand.

She says it's a factor in 30 percent of our fatal crashes - and the faster you're going, the more likely you are to be badly hurt.
