43-year-old Suzanne Derrett appeared in the Dunedin District Court this morning after her case was transferred from Auckland.
On July 4, Derrett - a recent Brisbane returnee - fled a smoking area at the Pullman Hotel, but was quickly found a few blocks away.
The Otago Daily Times report she'd been showing signs of emotional distress - yelling and talking to herself.
Derrett pleaded guilty to one charge of failing to comply with a Covid-19 order - but police say diversion may be considered since she had no previous convictions.
