    The person struck by a car in a suspected hit and run in Kawhia, near Hamilton, is now in a stable condition


    Police were called to the scene on Rosamund Terrace just before one this morning.

    The victim was taken to Waikato Hospital by helicopter in a critical condition.

    However, a Waikato DHB spokesperson says they're now serious, but stable.

    The driver allegedly left the scene immediately after the incident.

    One person is helping Police with their enquiries.
