A dramatic decrease in Auckland hospital admissions for heart disease over the lockdown period

Waitemata District Health Board data shows admissions were lower than the previous two years, even with a peak on weeks four and five of the Alert level 4.
New Zealand Medical Journal scientists say the strict stay-home message and presence of Covid-19 in DHBs may have meant over 70-year-olds avoided visiting hospital.
They say lower air pollution could have also led to fewer cases of heart failure.
