A 4.6 magnitude earthquake off Te Kaha was felt as far away as Great Barrier Island just before 8.30 this evening

The quake was centred 120 kilometres north-west of Te Kaha at a depth of 5 kilometres.
GeoNet reports nearly 500 people so far say they felt the shaking - with most saying it was only weak.
