WorkSafe says a woman left paralysed after a fall at work deserved better from a Christchurch flour company

Champion Flour Milling has been prosecuted for failing to provide a safe workplace and ordered to pay the worker 100 thousand dollars reparation, and a 310 thousand dollar fine.
The woman fell nearly four metres from an unsafe fixed platform with an unsecured ladder in July 2018, rendering her paralysed below the waist.
The grain conveyor maintenance platform had no guard rails or permanent access - and no rated harness anchor points.
Chief Inspector Steve Kelly says Champion had policies for working at that height, but didn't carry through with them.
