The office of the Privacy Commissioner says it's been notified about a serious privacy breach at Wellington Hospital

The office of the Privacy Commissioner says it's been notified about a serious privacy breach at Wellington Hospital

A member of the public was able to sneak into one of its operating theatres while a patient was undergoing major surgery.

The man was allegedly given access by a medical student on placement, who'd given him scrubs to wear in disguise.

A spokesperson for the Privacy Commissioner says Capital and Coast DHB has done the right thing by notifying the agency.

It would only investigate if the affected patient complained.
