A shot in the arm for the events sector in Auckland and Northland

The two regions have received a 19-million dollar injection to support major events.

Auckland Mayor Phil Goff says tackling the pandemic has cost Auckland's visitor economy and events sector hundreds of millions in lost revenue -- putting pressure on jobs and businesses.

He says the funding will boost economic recovery -- and help to bring some of the vibrancy and excitement back.
