    Rafael Nadal has been beaten in straight sets in the quarterfinals of the Rome Masters


    The Spaniard has lost 6-2, 7-5 to Argentine Diego Schwartzman.

    Novak Djokovic has advanced, as has Denis Shapovalov.

    Kiwi Michael Venus and his doubles partner John Peers have been knocked out of the competition.

    The pair lost their semi-final in straight sets.
