A boost for those stuck in Auckland traffic

There are now three lanes available southbound on the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

It comes after work to install a temporary repair on the damaged strut overnight was successful.

The lower half of the strut has been replaced with a section of fresh steel.

NZTA says as overall lane capacity remains reduced, they're still asking people to work from home, use public transport or consider travelling via the Western Ring Route.

At the same time, they say progress is also continuing on the permanent solution.
