NZTA is warning motorcyclists and drivers of high-sided vehicles not to use the Auckland Harbour Bridge, as heavy winds buffet the city

Officials may close some lanes of the bridge, if wind gusts exceed 80 kilometres per hour.

Already, two lanes are closed due to a weakened strut.

Auckland Transport will look to replace double decker buses with single decker buses for services over the bridge today as a safety precaution.

Motorbikes, high-sided vehicles and trucks are being diverted to the Western Ring Route.
