A weather bomb may have passed - but South Island motorists are still being advised to take it easy

State Highway 87 remains closed from Middlemarch to Outram.

There are also road closures across the Clutha District.

Transport Agency spokeswoman Tresca Forrester says roads may still be icy, particularly in the deep South, and at higher altitudes.

She says people on the roads for school holidays should drive slowly and take their time.
