Most of the big names in action have advanced to the third round of the French Open on day four in Paris

Most of the big names in action have advanced to the third round of the French Open on day four in Paris

While Serena Williams withdrawal with an achilles injury was a major talking point, women's top seed Simona Halep advanced to a third round match up against last year's semi finalist Amanda Anisimova.

Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem and 2015 champion Stan Wawrinka all cruised in the men's draw.

Wawrinka is grateful for the chance to play again in a Covid-19 plagued world.

Kiwi Marcus Daniell has crashed out in the first round of the men's doubles.
