Ash Dixon's highlighted his 100th match in a Magpies jersey with a Ranfurly Shield win

The hooker has captained his Hawke's Bay side to victory over Otago 28-9 in Dunedin, in the Razorbacks' first defence of the shield a week after taking it off Taranaki.

Dixon told Sky Sport he's pumped by the win and proud of his group.



For the stat lovers out there, this is the third time Hawke's Bay have claimed the Log o' Wood in the last seven years - the first of those in 2013 also saw them take the shield off Otago, who had it for only a week.

Meanwhile North Harbour has secured their first win of the season, beating the Premiership pace-setters Tasman 40-24 in Albany.

Waikato has outlasted Southland 10-9 in Invercargill.
