In what Newstalk ZB rugby reporter Elliott Smith has described as a truce to rival Snoopy and the Red Baron, the rescheduled opening game of the Rugby Championship against Australia is now on October 31 in Sydney, rather than December 12.
That will allow the squad to leave quarantine in time to open their presents.
The rescheduling was made easier by New South Wales wiping incoming quarantine requirements for New Zealanders from next week.
NZR chief executive Mark Robinson is mum on whether his organisation will make up any revenue shortfall.
