It qualified with first quarter sales down nearly 36 percent, but things have since picked up.
The owner of Briscoes and Rebel Sport, made a 28 million dollar profit in the first half of the 2020 financial year.
Board chair Dame Rosanne Meo says they've been watching developments - and have decided it's right to pay the subsidy back.
