Bruce Springsteen feels like he's at the "middle" of his life

The 71-year-old singer is "feeling good" about his age and wants to reflect that within his music

He said: "Life is short but long. So obviously the older you get the shorter it seems, so I feel, hey, I'm just in the middle of it. I'm feeling good and the band is ripping and we're going through this crazy time period, but we're keeping our spirit and given the circumstances of the day we're getting along. So that triumvirate of family, that family work dynamic is always the trickiest thing to suss us out. It took me a long time, for me to get that straight and that's even with my family or mixed directly in with the band is Patti's a band member. If you can balance those two things, it leads for a pretty satisfying life. And I've been lucky enough to sort that through as I've gotten older. We always wanted to make music that followed our lives along. I said, I didn't want to find myself as 40 years old on stage sort of feeling funny about singing a song that I wrote when I was 20, where I was trying to hold onto some ephemeral sense of use."

And the 'I'm On Fire' singer has been quarantining at home amidst the coronavirus pandemic and is taking it "a day at a time".

Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, he added: "I'm like everybody else, man. I'm like everybody else. I've been taking it a day at a time and that's all you can do really. I haven't had any particular secret as how deal with the whole thing. Just Patti and I were, we literally just been taking it a day at a time, doing what we can. We were lucky in that we made our record and shot the film with it a few months before the virus hits, so I had something to do and I could do it with a relatively small group of people. That helped a lot. I've been able to stay busy, which has helped, but it's just been a day at a time like everybody else. I don't have any great wisdom as to how to get through whatever this is that we've been going through."
