Ella Eyre says "it's sad that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan had to move country to live happily as a couple"

The 26-year-old singer was discussing interracial relationships on Badoo's 'Truth Flirts' with TV star Lateysha Grace and Rudimental's Amir Amor, when she claimed that Harry and Meghan, who quit as senior royals earlier this year and moved to California, were forced to leave the UK in order to "live happily"

She said: "I don't know if it's helped as much as it should have. It's sad that this was a really great opportunity to be an example. It's really sad they had to move country to live happily as a couple."

However, Ella is happy to see that interracial couples are being represented in the media more than they were when she was younger.

She said: "We're fortunate to live in a time where interracial couples are being represented a little more in the media, which is beyond important, and something I most definitely wanted to see more of when I was growing up. When I was younger, I very rarely saw examples of this in the media which I think made it feel like more of a taboo when it definitely shouldn't be. Things are definitely moving in the right direction but we still see negativity online which is something that needs to change.

"It is crazy how other people feel it's necessary to impose their opinion on somebody else's relationship and that the bigger picture isn't that they ultimately should be happy."

The trio also discussed the Black Lives Matter movement, with Ella revealing she has been trying to educate her white friends about cultural appropriation.

She said: "People are learning how to be more helpful … how can you help your black friends, listening and not questioning and not comparing. That's one thing I've experienced when I'm trying to explain to some of my white friends about cultural appropriation and things."
