    Dame Helen Mirren is now a baseball fan after watching the Los Angeles Dodgers win the 2020 World Series

    The 'Queen' star heaped praise on the sports team, who secured their first World Series win since 1988 when they beat Tampa Bay Rays 3 - 1 on Tuesday night (27.10.20)


    She wrote on Instagram: "Congrats Dodgers. I just watched you win World series You have made me a baseball fan. Brilliant exciting Series."

    Despite the coronavirus pandemic, Eric Garcetti, the Mayor of Los Angeles, praised the team for bringing the city together "even in these difficult times".

    He wrote on Twitter: "The @Dodgers have won the #WorldSeries!!! ... L.A. is so proud to bring home the first championship in a generation. This means so much to every single fan across Los Angeles and nationwide. Even in these difficult times, our boys in blue have brought #LATogether (sic)"

    LeBron James - who was part of the recent winning Los Angeles Lakers team - also tweeted his congratulations.

    He shared: "Man can we PLEASE have a parade!!! I know I know we can’t but DAMN I wanna celebrate with our @Lakers & @Dodgers fans!!! LA is the city of CHAMPIONS (sic)"

    Alyssa Milano shared her joy with a simple message that read: "Blue wave. #Dodgers (sic)"

    And Arnold Schwarzenegger shared a video online celebrating the win.

    He wrote: "Congratulations @Dodgers! What a fantastic championship. For the Dodgers fans out there, here’s my attempt at #ITFDB from earlier in the playoffs. (sic)"

    'Glee' star Kevin McHale penned: "1st the @Lakers & now the @Dodgers! WHAT. A. YEAR. For Mamba. (sic)"

    And actor Jack Falahee shared: "East side of LA is popping off. Glad that #LA has a reason to celebrate. Go dodgers. Congrats guys (sic)"
