Wellington doctors have welcomed news of a massive seizure of the party drug GBL

Wellington doctors have welcomed news of a massive seizure of the party drug GBL

After a two-and-a-half month investigation, Wellington police have made New Zealand's biggest ever seizure of the drug, often referred to as liquid ecstasy.

Emergency specialist Dr Paul Quigley says the drug has been plaguing emergency rooms for the past six weeks, with some patients even requiring intensive care as a result of taking it.

Two Wellington men will appear in court today on three related drugs charges.
