Twenty-four patients from the Haematology and Oncology wards were moved to the Waipapa facility yesterday.
Haematology patient Tane Loper, one of the first patients to make the move, says he's impressed with the new space.
He says the best thing about his new room is the view -- with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over Hagley Park.
The Children's Wards and the ICU will move to the new hospital in the upcoming weeks.
