The Government has an in-principle agreement to buy up to five million doses of a one-dose vaccine from Janssen Pharmaceutica.
It's also recently agreed to buy 1.5 million doses of a Pfizer vaccine, which has proved to be 95 percent effective in its latest round of trials.
Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield says New Zealanders can be assured we're in the game, but as with being in the stock market you spread your risk and get a number of options.
