A former Speaker of the House is thrilled to be on the National party board

A former Speaker of the House is thrilled to be on the National party board

David Carter was elected yesterday at the party's AGM in Wellington.

Peter Goodfellow was re-elected as party president, and Rachel Bird was re-elected to the board.

Carter says after serving as a National MP for 26 years, it's a chance for him to say thank you to the party, and to give back.

He says the party caucus and the board need to have a good relationship, and his experience in caucus will be a great contribution.
