Martin Kemp saved son Roman from drowning in George Michael's pool as a toddler

The Spandau Ballet star has revealed how he had to drag his boy - who is now a 'Capital Breakfast' host and starring on reality show 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' - out of the presenter's late godfather's pool in the South of France

Writing in 'It's A Love Story' - his upcoming autobiography with wife Shirlie - Martin said: "There were ten of us around the pool, in George’s house in St Tropez, keeping an eye and an ear out.

"Just as I allowed myself to nod off I suddenly found myself sitting bolt upright.

“I hadn’t heard a sound or seen a splash, but when I looked at the pool I realised Roman was under the water, not moving...

“He hadn’t been there for more than a couple of seconds but it was long enough to terrify me. Amazingly, he was fine."

Martin, 59, admitted the incident left him "devastated" as he kept worrying about how the scary moment could have ended up.

He added: "I was devastated. For the next couple of days, I found myself crying almost constantly.

"I couldn’t stop thinking about what could have happened and the consequences if I’d been too late.”

Meanwhile, Martin recently insisted a "friendly" spirit named Len once saved his life and told him to "go back inside", which stopped him from being hit by a car.

He explained: "One morning, I left the house thinking about the day ahead ... when I heard a voice in my ear, as if someone was talking to me.

“It was a voice talking to me directly, as though they needed to tell me something really important. It was a man’s voice, clear and deep.

“The voice seemed to speak slowly, as if it wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to be scared. It simply said, ‘Go back inside the house.’ I started to walk back towards the front door, trying to make sense of what had happened, when I heard an almighty bang.

“A Ford Cortina had careered into the space between two cars parked in the road – the exact space I would have been standing if I hadn’t heard the voice.”
