Heavy rain in the Wellington region's closed a key route into the capital

Heavy rain in the Wellington region's closed a key route into the capital

State Highway 1 is currently closed between Paekakariki and Plimmerton, north of the city.

Police have confirmed Paekakariki Hill Road is also closed.

However MetService meteorologist Andy Best says the rain has actually cleared now, following a dramatic downpour.

He says conditions should continue to vastly improve this afternoon and into the evening.
