A woman who let her elderly mother starve to death has been declined parole at her first hearing

47-year-old Cindy Melissa Taylor is serving a sentence of just over 13 years.

She was found guilty in 2016 of failing to provide Ena Lai Dung , with the necessities of life, thereby causing her death.

Dung weighed only 29-kilograms when she was found at a South Auckland home in 2015.

Taylor is due to appear again before the Parole Board in a year.
