WeatherWatch head forecaster Philip Duncan says there's nor'west sub-tropical winds coming down over the North Island in particular - which is a double whammy of warmth.
He says if you end up getting sunny weather as well that can boost the temperatures right up.
Duncan says at this time of year they'd be expecting to see 30-degrees through some areas of the eastern North Island - especially Hawke's Bay.
He says Canterbury's also got a chance of reaching into the late 20's or early 30's, as does parts of Northland and Waikato.
