The circuit race in Farrant's Hill was called off on the opening lap after the riders came out of a blind corner and crashed into a stationary police motorbike .
It's officer was trying to remove a driver who had strayed onto the course.
Cameron Scott was the first to hit the motorbike at an estimated 60 kilometres an hour and that prompted a mass crash in the peloton.
Scott suffered a fractured pelvis with a number of riders taken to hospital - Ben Carman the most seriously injured with a broken tibia, fibula and patella.
