Bosses in Australia who deliberately underpay workers could face up to four years' jail and just over a million dollars in fines

A new criminal offence of wage theft applies to employers who deliberately underpay one or more workers.
Anyone convicted of wage theft will be disqualified from managing companies for five years.
The penalties do not apply to one-off underpayments, inadvertent mistakes or miscalculations.
