Housing construction needs to change if it's to shrink its carbon footprint

Statistics New Zealand has released its Housing in New Zealand 2020 report.
It says the industry is a dominant contributor to the country's consumption-based greenhouse gas emissions.
But report lead author, Dr Rosemary Goodyear, says there are easy ways to mitigate the impact.
She says there needs to be more use of timber in housing and a move from really large houses to smaller more energy efficient dwellings.
