Half of Auckland's regional fuel tax remains unspent

It's been two years since the controversial 11.5 cents per litre tax was brought in, raising 330-million dollars.
Meanwhile, council's grappling with a projected one-billion dollar fiscal hole - punched in by the pandemic.
Councillors are holding a budget meeting today.
Mayor Phil Goff is suggesting a one-off five per cent rate increase next year to stimulate 500-million dollars.
Another proposal is to sell of 70-million dollars worth of assets a year, for three years.
