String of complaints prompts Commerce Commission to investigate controversial cash drop event
A string of public complaints appears to have prompted the Commerce Commission to investigate a controversial cash drop event in Auckland
10 December 2020
Safety Warehouse has been criticised for promising to throw 100-thousand dollars into a crowd at Aotea Square last weekend.
People at the event became angry when they found the free-for-all included vouchers instead of cash.
The Commerce Commission says by midday yesterday, it had received nine complaints from members of the public, including two complaints passed on by police.
It's agreed to look into whether the company made any representations that breached the Fair Trading Act.
