Mallard wrongly accused a Parliamentary staffer of rape, and it cost taxpayers 330-thousand dollars in legal costs.
National MP Michael Woodhouse was at the select committee meeting.
He says timelines around complaints and interviews in March and April don't quite match up.
He says this matter is bigger than politics.
He says the select committee is an important process for getting to the truth -- and he's not sure they did that today.
